Ways We Heal

Mindy struggled with depression and addiction. The stigma surrounding her illness made hard for her to accept help. She was in court-ordered treatment and the public judgment and media attention became so overwhelming that she left treatment before she was able to fully receive the support she needed. In one of our last conversations Mindy asked me to help spread the message that suicide is preventable. I created this mission in Mindy’s honor because no one should feel ashamed to admit they are struggling. Depression, addiction, anxiety, and emotional pain are not character flaws. They are signs that we are human. We need care, support, and compassion. You don't have to wait until you hit rock bottom to get help and you don't have to suffer in silence. Asking for help is not weakness. We are stronger when we lift each other up.

Healing is not one-size-fits-all. For people struggling with addiction, depression, grief, trauma, or emotional pain, the path forward can look different for everyone. Through this project, I will be exploring a variety of healing and therapy methods with compassion, curiosity, and respect — from traditional treatment and relapse prevention to holistic, spiritual, creative, and emerging approaches. My hope is to help people feel less alone, less ashamed, and more open to finding the kind of support that speaks to them. This is a space for hope, learning, and the belief that healing is possible in many different ways.
